My teens years were spent going from doctor to doctor searching for the magic pill that would eventually end the nightmare of my psoriasis.

Unfortunately, I soon realised that I was looking for an unattainable goal; in fact I needed to understand and reconnect with my body to recognise why it was acting in such a severe way. You see, I was covered with psoriasis and it wasn’t until I tried Chinese Medicine that my hope in finally finding a solution presented itself.

It hasn’t been an easy road and we certainly never stop learning.

What I have found is that the body is constantly speaking to us through signs and symptoms and to simply ignore or suppress this connection with various medicines will only create more significant and uncomfortable symptoms and signs.

Initially when I opened my private practise I dreaded the thought of treating people with skin conditions. In fact, I relished the idea in helping women with specific women’s health issues such as endometriosis, menopause, hormonal imbalances, menstrual irregularities and the like. From that, many patients brought their partners in and our focus would turn to fertility. Despite whether the focus was on natural conception or IVF support, the approach was always improving the health of the individual to allow fertility to happen.

Skin Conditions: Treatments and Management.

It’s no surprise I love treating skin conditions; once I got over my fears which took 2 years into private practise. Once I felt more confident in my abilities to help others I just loved the transformations I saw and continue to see. The key is understanding auto-immune diseases and inflammation. When we can unlock the causes to diseases such as psoriasis, acne, eczema, and lupus, we can really assist the body to heal and recover so to reduce the frequency and severity of future flare ups.

Finally I would like to share the skincare we have on offer and why I decided to team up with a cosmetic chemist to create the Salubre Cosmeceuticals and Salubre Therapeutics ranges.

The single most frustrating issue with using natural medicine to resolve skin issues is the time it takes to heal the skin. The reason is mostly due to the simple duration of the disease and the complexities that lie within it. Let me tell you, the quicker the treatment works the more concerned you should be. I have used some cortisone creams that resolved my severe psoriasis within days. I was beyond elated for a very short period of time because what followed what pure chaos. The incredibly intense flare up that resulted when I stopped the cortisone cream is why I believe it covered my entire body. To reverse this with natural medicine meant I needed an incredible amount of patience which when it comes to skin diseases this is a challenge in itself.
